1. Opening Hours
 
When semester begins, library hours are as follows:
Mon - Fri 7.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m.
Mon - Fri 8.30 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Sat 8.00 a.m. - 6.30 p.m
 
Sun 8.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
 
After final exam, the opening hours of the libraries are as follows:
Mon - Fri 8.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
Mon - Fri 8.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

Courtesy in the Library
  1. To show the library card or I.D. card before entering the Library.
  2. To dress properly and to behave responsibly.
  3. To leave bags or briefcases with the library staff on duty. Take care of your valuable belongings.
  4. Not to make a loud noise or do anything that would disturb others in the Library. Complete silence shall be observed in the reading rooms.
  5. Not to smoke/bring any food or drinks into the Library.
  6. Not to reserve seats.
  7. Not to remove or tear off any pages from the books.
  8. Not to bring own newspaper into the Library.
  9. Bring the current registration receipt and I.D. card to extend your membership every semester.
  10. To allow the library staff on duty to inspect all books and other items to be taken out of the Library
The Library may with hold the rights of any person who is found guilty of breaking any or all of these rules.

Membership Rules
The following ABAC members are entitled to use the Library :
(A) Registered students of ABAC
(B) Full-time and part-time academic staff of ABAC
(C) Full-time administrative and library staff of ABAC
(C) Full-time administrative and library staff of ABAC
(D) Members of ABAC Council

Membership Responsibilities
A member's card is nontransferable. The member is responsible for materials checked out on his card, and he is to pay for any charge for lost or damaged books checked out on it. No book may be checked out without the card, and no material will be checked out on a card showing an overdue item. If a member loses his library card, he has to report to the Circulation Counter immediately to prevent unauthorized use of the card. After the report he may obtain a new one from the Library one week after paying a 50-baht fine.

Change of Address
Members are required to report promptly the change of their home, business or school address and telephone number. Failing to do so may result in termination of membership.
 

 



  • Abstract is a brief summary of a book, article, etc.
  • Bibliography is a list of books and /or journal articles on a particular subject or by a particular author.
  • Bound journals are done to preserve them and to make storing them easier.
  • Call number is a combination of letters and numbers that is located in the upper left-hand corner of each catalog card, and on the spine or cover of each book.
  • Card Catalog is an alphabetical listing of books, periodicals and non-print materials. This catalog is located in cabinets with drawers. The cards within the catalog are arranged alphabetically with author, title and subject cards all interfiled in one alphabetical sequence.
  • CD-ROM usually refers to a computerized index or other reference source that has information stored on a compact disc.
  • Check out means to take books or periodicals out of the library for a certain period of time. You need your current library card to do this.
  • Circulate means a book can be borrowed or checked out.
  • Citation is a reference to a book, article, or other such item. It will list such things as author, title, and date.
  • Current periodicals are the latest or most recent issues of journals and magazines that the library receives.
  • Due Date is the date stamped inside each book you check out. The book has to be returned to the library by this date. If you return it late, you will be charged a fee.
  • Full-Text Database is a database from which you can retrieve the full text of documents instead of just bibliographic citations.
  • Information/Reference Desk is the place where library staff is available to answer your questions and to show you how to use online catalog and the card catalog.
  • Journal is a periodical that contains scholarly articles or research. See the related terms "periodical, " "magazine" and "serial".
  • Magazine is a periodical that contains popular articles written for the general reader rather than the scholar.
  • Main entry is the main card for an item listed in the card catalog. Usually the main entry card is the author card.
  • Microfiche is a flat sheet of film usually 4 x 6 inches or 3 x 5 inches, onto which some information has been reduced and stored.
  • Microfilm is a roll of photographic film onto which some information has been reduced and stored. Special machines are needed to read microfilm.
  • Overdue A book is overdue if it is returned to the library after the due date that is stamped inside it. If it is overdue you will have to pay a fine.
  • Periodical is a serial publication that appears at regular intervals. It is a broad term that usually includes magazines and journals.
  • Periodical index is a set of books or an electronic database which lists articles appeared in magazines or journals. You can usually look for information in an index by looking under a subject or under an author's surname.
  • Recall if a book you need is not on the shelf, you can have Circulation Services recall it for you. In other words, the person who has the book will be notified and will have to return the book to the library. You will then be notified that the book is being held for you.
  • Recall notice If you receive a recall notice you must return the book to the library even though it is not yet due. You must return it since someone else needs it and has asked for it to be recalled.
  • Renew if you need a book longer than the date due, you can ask to have it longer, or, in other words, renew it. To renew a book you must contact Circulation Services. They will let you renew it if no one else has asked to have that book.
  • Search if a book you need is not on the shelf and the Circulation Services department says that no one has it checked out, you can request a search. The staff will look for the book and will notify you when they find it.
  • Serial is a publication that is issued in successive parts and is intended to be continued indefinitely. Serials include journals, magazines, newspapers, periodicals and series.
  • Stacks are the shelves that hold library books.
